2015 ASCF Anniversary, senior members reflection and Senior Day

My Dear Old Friends,

I believe you will agree with me that you are one day older than you were yesterday, isn't it true? So far this year, your overall energy level is also down a bit from last year, do you agree? Every day you are troubled by the worries buzzing like bees in your head. Your health declined. Organs in your body vying for your attention by complaining. You are just inundated with all these, and you wonder what the purpose in life is.

Dear old friend, what are you going to do?

Go get a cup of soothing tea. Sit down and do an overall assessment. What are your current situation physically and mentally? What do you wish them to be? What can you do? What do you expect things to be? We will all need more care and services in the future. Yes, indeed. We need quite a lot more services.
If we carefully scrutinize the existing services in this county of this state we now live in, can we find adequate long term senior care service network, especially those addressing the needs of Asian people, suitable for Asian needs? For example, senior activity center, senior daycare, day health center, food delivery, local transportation, in-home care, companionship, care-giver support, etc. All these services are needed when the senior’s physical or mental condition declines. Do they seem like unattainable day dreams? Most services available now are in American style provided by mainstream organizations. Are you happy about what you can find now?

Let me tell you this.

In Greater Seattle, we are lucky enough to have two non-profit Asian long term care community medical network service organizations. They are Nikkei Concerns / Keiro Rehabilitation Center and Kin-On Rehabilitation Center. I now recommend these to you. Please make sure to make use of them. At the same time, I also call on the community to come together to help these two organizations to strengthen the scope of their services so that one day when we need it, they will be there to provide the appropriate and timely service. I am glad that we are able to introduce to you the managers of these organizations, Mr. Jeffrey Hattori and Mr. Sam Wan who will explain to us their services, their wishes and their needs.
